Results say Woodland Hills water is bacteria-free
Published 4:32pm Monday, August 17, 2009Test results from water samples collected in the Woodland Hills subdivision show the water is free of bacteria, said Alabaster Water Board Manager Pete Lucas.
Lucas received the bacteria results Friday from an outside lab. Additional test results are pending.
Woodland Hills residents attended an Aug. 10 Alabaster Water Board meeting to complain of discolored water at their homes. One resident, Patrick Doonan, sent samples of his water to a testing facility in Decatur. The results showed increased levels of aluminum, iron, lead and trace amounts of coliform bacteria.
Lucas attributes the water discoloration to lime buildup breaking off old galvanized pipes. The city began work Friday to replace the galvanized pipes with black polyurethane pipes.
