Autism Alabama site launchedPublished 5:29pm Thursday, September 3, 2009
State Rep. Cam Ward, R-Alabaster, announced a new Web site for information about autism and autism-related disorders has been launched.
Autism Alabama is an on-line library providing distance learning for teachers who have children on the autism spectrum. In addition, the Web site offers resources for parents in search of more information about autism services in Alabama. The Web site grew out of recommendations offered by the Autism Task Force in 2008, which Ward chaired.
“The Autism Alabama Web site is a valuable tool for teachers and parents who deal with autism and autism disorders. We have indeed come a long way in recognizing and addressing the developmental disability that affects one out of every 150 people,” Ward said. “Many thanks to the Alabama Department of Education for creating and maintaining this informative website.”
Ward serves in the Alabama House of Representatives representing Shelby and Bibb Counties. He and his wife Julie and their daughter Riley live in Alabaster.
