More than just firefighters

Published Thursday, July 2, 2009

If you’ve ever had a fire in your home or had a medical emergency and had to call 911, then you know Alabaster is blessed with one of the best fire departments in all of the state.

While we are fortunate to have such a great team working under Chief Frank Matherson, the things the fire department does besides putting out fires makes them even more special.

Take Thursday, for example.

On July 2, the Alabaster Fire Department held a child safety seat checkpoint at Station No. 3 to ensure seats are properly installed or to install a new seat at no charge.

In addition to this endeavor, the fire department routinely checks citizens’ blood pressure at no charge.

Throw in the countless charitable efforts the fire department does without any recognition, and you can truly say Alabaster is blessed, and safer, because of them.

Thank you Alabaster Fire Department!
