Shelby County Board of Education minutes for June 20, 2009

The Shelby County Board of Education met on June 11, 2009, at 6:15 p.m. at the Central Office in Columbiana. The following Board members were present: Dr. Lee Doebler, Mr. Steve Martin, and Dr. David Nichols. Ms. Peg Hill and Mrs. Anne Glass were absent.

Mr. Gary McCombs gave the Invocation. Mr. Rickey Darby led the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made by Mr. Martin, seconded by Dr. Nichols, and unanimously approved the Board meeting agenda by deleting items 5 and 6.

The President opened the floor for public comments concerning agenda items. There were none.

Mr. Fuller thanked Mrs. Cindy Warner for the Shelby County School’s promotional video the board reviewed prior to the board meeting.

Mr. Rickey Darby and Mr. Fuller recognized the First Year Teacher of-the-Year Winners: Jenna Campbell from Montevallo Elementary and James Marshall from Chelsea Middle.

Mr. Fuller announced that Helena Intermediate was the attendance winner for month 09 with 96.7% attendance.

Mr. Gary McCombs gave the management report.

Upon written recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mr. Martin, seconded by Dr. Nichols, and unanimously approved the payroll and monthly expenditures for the month of May as

presented.

Upon written recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Dr. Nichols, seconded by Mr. Martin, and unanimously approved the Budget Amendment #2 FY 2008-09 as presented.

Upon written recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Dr. Nichols, seconded by Mr. Martin, and unanimously approved the out-of-state field trips as presented.

Upon written recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mr. Martin, seconded by Dr. Nichols, and unanimously approved the following personnel action items:

Upon written recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mr. Martin, seconded by Dr. Nichols, and unanimously approved to award Bid #63-08 for Ice Cream (Renewal) as presented.

Upon written recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mr. Martin, seconded by Dr. Nichols, and unanimously approved to award Bid #09-07 for Laminating Film as presented.

Upon written recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Dr. Nichols, seconded by Mr. Martin, and unanimously approved to reject Bid #09-09 for Sale of Used Textbooks as presented.

The next scheduled board meeting will be on Monday, June 15, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Office in Columbiana.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
