Beautification Board seeking volunteers, nominations

Published Monday, February 8, 2010

The Alabaster Beautification Board is looking for pristine yards and is seeking volunteers to help with city events throughout the year, according to board member Randi Dicus.

Volunteers would help the Beautification Board identify areas in need of the board’s attention, and would help with city programs like the Alabaster Christmas Parade, Arbor Day festivities and Adopt-a-Mile.

“The volunteers would attend the meetings, provide input for the community and assist with events throughout the year,” Dicus said, noting the board meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Alabaster Senior Center off Thompson Road. “The meetings are only an hour long.”

The board is also looking for nominations for the city’s Yard of the Month and Business of the Month awards. After board members receive the nominations, they visit the homes and businesses before choosing the winners each month.

To volunteer with the board, or to nominate a yard or business for beautification awards, call Dicus at 664-1106, or e-mail pdicus@bellsouth.net.
